If It’s Not One Thing …

I need help, ladies.

I woke up this morning, and the effects of the retrieval hit me hard. On day 3???

What are your post-retrieval recovery hints? I am downing Gatorade like nobody’s business.

I just want a calm environment for my babies on Thursday.

Have you ever gotten this?

  1. Sheesh. I’m no help. I’ve never gotten to a transfer! Acupuncture? I’ve heard lots of folks drinking coconut water? Maybe a good romantic comedy with a hunky fella? Ha. Sorry, that’s all I’ve got. 🙂

  2. I prefer doing coconut water over Gatorade (sans chemicals and plenty of electrolytes). Drink TONS of water, eat protein at every meal, eat salty foods as much as possible. Basically, just a lot of drink, pee, drink, pee, drink, pee. Weigh yourself consistently at the same time every day (upon waking is best) and call your doctor if you experience any drastic weight gain (3-5 lbs. +) in any 24 hour period. When in doubt ask your RE/nurse. They should have a list of OHSS symptoms and directions for you. Hope you feel better soon!

  3. I agree with Emily on the coconut water, gatorade has too much sugar. Eat mostly easily digestible veggies, don’t let yourself get constipated, it will exacerbate the pain. Be sure the take whatever pain meds you have (Rx, over the counter) as soon as you safely can. Do you have a trusty heating pad handy? And don’t forget, if you feel that you body is in too much chaos, don’t be afraid to do a freeze all cycle. My doctor speculates that I was so agitated by the stims and retrieval that my healthy embryos couldn’t implant in an upset linng. Considering all of the follies they recover, I’m surprised that it has taken this long for the serious hurtin’ to keep in. Good luck and lots of baby dust!!!
